About the Fund
IndusAge Technology Venture Fund I, the first fund created by IndusAge Partners is being formed to make early to scale up investments in Technology and Technology oriented services companies in India. This fund is formed to avail of the unique opportunity that exists at the current time for the formation of global companies out of India. Given the nascent early stage/growth stage ecosystem in India combined with the gradual aggregation of Venture/PE funds towards later stage and public market investments, we believe there are significant untapped potential and market need for innovative companies to get the required access to capital in relatively earlier stages of value creation.
Fund I, is differentiated tremendously by the deep operational and investing expertise of the team, who collectively have over 40 years of experience growing over 80 companies through multiple stages across a variety of sectors on a global basis.
It is our belief that the investment strategy when applied to areas such as Mobility, Cloud, Telecom, Consumer Internet and Energy Efficiency will present a wealth of opportunity as key technological disruptions are occurring in each of these areas. In addition, we contend that many companies in India can be financially supported and operationally enhanced by the our worldwide access and reach through substantial business development efforts, in addition to deep operating expertise. Further to the technology sectors above, we expect to build companies with global scale in key vertical segments with technology enabled services in Education, Financial Services, Health and Enterprise support.
The investment thesis of this fund is developed primarily due to the market conditions that have evolved over the last several years in India. It is our belief that India is entering a second wave of innovation and growth in IT, Telecommunications, ecommerce and Infrastructure. Furthermore, the increase in penetration of mobile devices and the development of wireless infrastructure in the country is enabling many new businesses to replicate successful business models of the US. Both these pillars are contributing to the aggressive development and growth of the ecosystem of innovative opportunities and value creation.
